The history of Jiaozi dates back a thousand years to ancient times. With the Spring Festival and the start of a New Year, people like to eat Jiaozi to signify their hope for good fortune in the coming Chinese New Year. Cooking dumplings, during the holidays in Northern China, is a strong Chinese traditional. Chinese consider the making of dumplings an art and strive to be masters in the art of making dumplings. There is an old saying to describe the wonderful flavor of dumplings, “好吃不如饺子” (haochi buru jiaozi). “No food tastes better than Jiaozi.”
